1979年奄美大島生まれ。3才の頃から祖父に奄美シマ唄を習い、奄美のシマ唄大会や鹿児島の民謡大会で多くの賞を受賞。18歳から東京で音楽活動を開始し、2005年にアルバム『恋し恋しや』でメジャーデビュー。山本寛斎プロデュースの数々のショーに出演するほか、国内外のイベントにも多数出演。世界的人気を誇るフランスのエンタテインメント集団「シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ」の公認ボーカルリストでもある。2013年にはミュージカル「レ・ミゼラブル」にファンテーヌ役で出演するとともに、JAZZと伝統芸能のフュージョンを標榜するユニット「黒船」にも参加。

Born in 1979 in Amami Oshima, Ms. Sato was taught the shima-uta of Amami by her grandfather beginning at the very young age of three. She won numerous awards and recognition in Amami’s shima-uta contests and at bigger, prefectural competitions in Kagoshima. She performed at the Love the Earth Expo opening event for the Aichi Expo in March 2005, which was produced by fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, where she garnered much acclaim. By 2009, she has released a total of five albums and a DVD. Her performances in 2010 include the Shanghai Expo concert in May, and in June, at the Armstrong Theater in LA. In July 2011, she performed live at the 14th World Gymnaestrada in Lausanne, and in October she was a guest performer at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Tokyo. She is also one of the official vocalists for Cirque du Soleil.
