プロフィール
1969年、石垣島白保生まれ。幼少より唄三線の好きな家族に囲まれて育つ。祖父の故・大島松は声がよく、唄三線が得意だったことから「ひばり」と呼ばれるようになり、それが大島家の屋号となった。
高校卒業後上京し、東京でソロ・ミュージシャンとして活動を開始。1993年にデビューアルバム『北風南風』をリリース。出身地である八重山をはじめとした沖縄の島々の民謡と、三線で弾き語るオリジナル曲を歌い、国内外各地で演奏活動を行っている。高校の同級生であるBEGINや、先輩である新良幸人とも交流が深い。
He started his career as a solo musician in 1993 in Tokyo, releasing his debut album, Nishi Kaji Hai Kaji. He has expanded his musical activities from the Yaeyama Islands where he hails from, to Okinawa and Miyako Islands, and throughout Japan and abroad. He writes and sings his own songs as well as various shima-uta, or ‘songs of the islands,’ that have been passed down for generations in the islands within Okinawa. The three-stringed Okinawan instrument, the sanshin, is his base as he performs solo on stage. He continues to allure fans from all backgrounds.
