音楽業界に37年従事。トムスキャビン、日本フォノグラム（現ユニバーサル）、CBS/Sony Songs（現Sony Music Pub.）、MSアーティスツなどを通じ海外アーティスト招聘、音楽制作、音楽出版、マネージメン ト業などに携わる。国内外多岐に及ぶ業界キャリアの集大成として現在アーティスト発進装置とするSXSW日本版を目指す新しい音楽見本市「TOKYO BOOT UP!」に取り組んでいる。
【過去の主な仕 事】レヴォン・ヘルム（The Band）、トム・ウェイツ、ジャクソン・ブラウン、トーキング・ヘッズ、エア・サプライ、ブライアン・イーノ、ドリームズ・カム・トゥルー、りんけんバンド、ゼルダらに加え 「白い犬とワルツを」など映画音楽制作、国体障害者スポーツ大会式典、平安建都1200年記念事業など多数関わる。

Mr. Watanabe is the representative of TOKYO BOOT UP! He was the chief of bureau for SXSW-Asia from 2000 to 2005, and has been engaged in the music industry for 37 years. He has invited overseas artists, created music, published literature on music and has been involved in management through various outlets including Tom’s Cabin, Nippon Phonograph (present Universal Music), CBS/Sony Songs (present Sony Music Publishing Inc.), and MS Artists. With his culmination of experience in the music business at home and abroad, Mr. Watanabe is currently involved in the creation of new ways to expose and show the talents of artists through the Japanese version of SXSW, called TOKYO BOOT UP!
